1820 A.D.
This miniature is one of a series of twenty-three illustrations to the Gita-Govinda of Jayadeva Goswami. The series was painted for Raja Kalyan Singh of Kishangarh (1798-1838) in 1820 A.D. On the flyleaf of the painting a well-known Sanskrit verse appears with two lines of commentary in Hindi.

The Sanskrit verse states that Krsna's blue body is smeared with sandal paste and he wears the pitambara (yellow dhoti). The commentary emphasizes that Radha is pretending that She has not seen Krsna dancing gaily with the gopis.
