Sanjhi Lila or lila of the evening is played for five days in the month of Asoj. In this lila, only girls take part. But Krsna cannot bear to be separated from His beloved and disguises Himself as a young girl. Thus He joins Radha and Her friends. Radha is seated on a throne in a terrace garden and Krsna, dressed as a young girl, stands before Her with a golden bowl.

Around Them are Radha's maidservants. On the other side of the terrace, inlaid with intricate patterns of colored stones, a graceful songstress, accompanied by equally graceful companions, entertains the company. Particularly graceful is the third girl from the left with uplifted hand.

In the foreground a row of fountains shower sprays of water into a lotus pool where silver carp nose under the lotus stems. A twin pair of saras cranes stand sentinel. Behind the throne a vast woodland is silhouetted against a gold and crimson sky as night slowly descends upon the scene. The evening sky, shot with red and gold, heralds the hour of twilight.
