Srimad Bhagavatam - 10.30.44 Translation:
The gopis again came to the bank of the Kalindi. Meditating on Krsna and eagerly hoping He would come, they sat down together to sing of Him.

As stated in the Katha Upanisad (1.2.23), yam evaisa vrnute tena labhyah: The Supersoul can be realized by that person whom He chooses. Thus the gopis fervently pray that Krsna come back to them.
